DOCTRINE

The Jesus Presbyterian Seminary – SemPre de Jesus* – is a theological seminary of the Jesus Presbyterian Church of Brazil (JPC of Brazil), that seeks to form students with solid reformed calvinistic biblical basis, qualifying them to build and lead the Church and the society.
*SemPre de Jesus is an abbreviation of Seminário Presbiteriano de Jesus. SemPre de Jesus in Portuguese means Always of Jesus.

The Jesus Presbyterian Church of Brazil has the Holy Scripture (Old and New Testaments) as the only rule of faith and practice, adopts the Presbyterian form of government, accepts the Standards of Westminster (Confession of Faith, Larger Cathecism and Shorter Cathecism, Brazilian translation) as its doctrinal system and it's governed by its Constitution and Order.

It has as its denominational principle the recognition that the rigorous adoption and the intransigent defense of the doctrines revealed in the Holy Scriptures, and systematized in the Standards of Faith that it accepts, constitute the fundamental basis of the whole Christian life, the only and permanent reason for its preaching and the natural way of leading people to salvation in Christ. It is, therefore, a strictly orthodox church, and, for this reason, declares incompatible with the profession of the Christian faith the acceptance of any philosophical or religious system that intends to reach the same objectives of Christianity by means other than those established by the Word of God.

MISSION

The harvest is plentiful (Mt 9:37), and the Jesus Presbyterian Seminary (SemPre de Jesus) has the commission of preparing the servants sent by the Lord (Mt 9:38) to advance and sow ("SEMEAR") the Word of God by Brasil, to the ends of the earth. The servant of God of this seminary, should always seek, by constant prayer, to be:

• Apt
• Righteous

IDENTITY

The Jesus Presbyterian Church of Brazil has its roots in the Jesus Presbyterian Church of Korea, founded in 1912. The Jesus Presbyterian Church of Brazil was founded on December 18, 2000 by missionaries sent by the Jesus Presbyterian Church of Korea (Hab-dong).

At that time (1912), Korea was predominated by confucianism, buddhism and shamanism, for there was a great spiritual ignorance and chaos. To break the chains and to set free of this spiritual ignorance and chaos, the name above all names, Jesus, had to be inscribed in the heart of this people, so the denomination was named Jesus Presbyterian Church of Korea.

HISTORY

In obedience to the Great Commission, Korean missionaries founded the Jesus Presbyterian Church of Brazil in the year of 2000. By the grace of God, in 2001, it was born the Jesus Presbyterian Seminary, that initiated its activities in February of 2002, in order to supply the need of workers for the harvest.

The Institution already formed five groups. Ex-students are already ministering in diverse harvests of Brazil.

Stimulated by the solid academic environment of the Jesus Presbyterian Seminary (SemPre de Jesus), some students extended their studies, doing postgraduation in other institutions.
